Questions we actually get.
What is Zincboracyl®?
It is our own name for the crystal at the center of every Pink Relief formula, a beta hydroxy acid and zinc locked together into a single stable salt. That is what lets a water-light mist carry a beta hydroxy acid at all, with no alcohol and no glycols to hold it in solution. Dr. Martin has made it the same way since the 1970s, and no other skin care line has it.
Which one should I start with?
The Combo Pak, nearly always. It gives you the mist for quick coverage over large areas, the crème for face and hands and overnight, and the ointment for the roughest patches. Once you know which one you reach for, buy that one in a multi-pack and the price per unit drops a long way.
What is the difference between the mist, the crème, and the ointment?
The same Zincboracyl® crystal complex is in all three. Only the base changes. The mist is water-light and sprays on cold over large areas. The crème has a twelve-botanical base with shea butter and aloe, so it stays put on the face and hands. The ointment has a petrolatum backbone that holds the crystals in contact with the skin the longest, which is why people use it overnight.
Should I wear sunscreen with it?
Yes, on any area you have misted if you are going to be out in the sun. Beta hydroxy acids leave skin a little more sun-sensitive, which is true of every product in the category, and sunscreen is simply good practice on top of that.
Why is it pink?
Red cabbage leaf extract. It is not a dye.
Is it gentle enough for sensitive skin?
There is no synthetic fragrance and no filler in any of the topicals, and no alcohol or glycols either, which is what most people are actually reacting to in a beta hydroxy acid product. Hyaluronic acid, aloe, vitamin B5, and shea butter round out the formulas and moisturize healthy skin as you use them. As with any skin care product, if you have known sensitivities, read the full ingredient panel on the product page first and try a small area.
How long does a bottle last?
The 4 oz. mist lasts most people a month or two depending on how much area they cover. The 1.7 oz. crème and ointment go further because you use very little at a time. The 64 oz. refill is sixteen times the mist and is built for households where more than one person uses it.
Can I use the Tonic and the topicals together?
Yes, many people do. The Tonic is a dietary supplement you drink, one ounce a day. The topicals go on your skin. They are separate products from the same tradition.*
